A viscount’s house, not a tavern joke

Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove, is the legal name under Dandelion’s stage persona. Songs of the Past, the upcoming 2027 paid expansion from CD Projekt Red and Fool’s Theory, is the first Witcher 3 chapter that actually walks Geralt through that house. The gamescom 2026 demos used the manor as more than a loading screen: it is where A Bed of Thorns stops being a missing-person notice and becomes a family investigation.

Letten itself sits in northern Redania, Dandelion’s homeland, close to Kovir and Poviss. The valley looks spared by the Nilfgaardian wars. Harvests are good. Festivals are loud. The de Lettenhove estate sits in that prosperity like a fact, not a ruin. Fool’s Theory’s world director placed the region on the Nimnar’s southern shore for the map nerds. Geography for riders lives on the Letten map. This page is the people at the table.

Who sits there in the preview

The grandmother. Coverage of the closed-door and streamed demos describes her as stern and in charge. She is the reason the house still functions while Dandelion is off being a poet. Expect her to know more about Humbert’s legend than she first offers. Talk twice.

Gustav. Dandelion’s brother, played as the serious one. If Dandelion is the lute and the rumor, Gustav is the ledgers and the frown. Public footage has not given him a full quest of his own. Do not invent a rivalry ending. Do listen when he talks about the family name; the Garden of Thorns is a de Lettenhove problem, not a random witcher contract.

Lilla. Dandelion’s cousin and Geralt’s companion into the Garden. Optional romance. The gamescom demo kept Geralt loyal to Yennefer. She knows the local legend well enough to narrate Humbert’s doomed love, villagers who harmed a witch, bodies in a well, and a garden that grew thirsty. She is the relative who still lives in the valley and will ride toward the part other people avoid.

Count Humbert de Lettenhove. Ancestor, not a dinner guest. Preview combat treats his remains as the Slumbering Knight: a rooted corpse in the Garden of Thorns, bark shield for an arm, thorned tendrils, and in at least one account a horse pendant of the house around the neck. Kotaku’s fifty-minute session described him offering Lilla a flower before the vines closed on Geralt. That is a boss and a family secret at once. The Bed of Thorns quest is where the fight sits. The new monsters page is where the kit sits.

Dandelion himself is missing when Geralt wakes after Belleteyn. His lute is the breadcrumb. The expansion is a character study of the friendship the base game never had room for while Ciri was the contract. Returning voice work from John Schwab was part of the preview pitch. CD Projekt Red has said the story is original, pulled from a drawer of old Witcher 3 writing, not a scene-by-scene Sapkowski chapter.

Geralt is the outsider at this table. He is not de Lettenhove. He is the professional the curse requires. Marcin Blacha has framed the chapter as Geralt answering a friend after Toussaint, not as a secret prequel that makes Ciri the lead. The Witcher 4 remains her game.

How to use this page before 2027

You cannot visit the manor yet. You can decide which Geralt walks in.

• Keep a Blood and Wine save so the vineyard is a home he is leaving, not a hole in the timeline. Getting Started is the checklist.
• Decide the Yennefer or Triss question before Lilla’s optional path. Triss was not in the demo. Yennefer’s physical appearance in Letten is unconfirmed.
• Read the story overview if you only want the curse in outline.
• Do not expect every dinner guest from the books. This household is a game original built around Dandelion’s title.

Letten’s NPCs now drive carts, take boats, and keep festival routes. The de Lettenhove staff will be part of that denser day. Overheard lines can unlock later dialogue. Treat the house like the Baron’s rooms: search it, then search it again after someone gets angry.

Songs of the Past is still upcoming. Rankings of who lives, who dies, and who inherits the name are not public. This page will stay a seating chart until 2027 turns it into a spoiler list.
