Prep Tools Hub

Why a tools hub exists this early

Songs of the Past is still an upcoming paid expansion for 2027. The work you can do in 2026 is not speedrunning Letten. It is making sure the box under your desk, the console in the cabinet, and the Blood and Wine save in your slot list will actually load the chapter when CD Projekt Red opens the gate. This hub points at those jobs without turning them into a fake launch-day checklist.

Pages under this hub cover the boring jobs. System requirements is the PC floor: Windows 11, DirectX 12, SSD, RAM, and GPU. Platforms is the storefront and hardware map: Steam, GOG, Epic, Battle.net, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 — and the last-gen machines that are out. The mutagens guide is for the rebuilt skill tree and the unique mutagens confirmed for Remastered and Songs of the Past — without fake drop tables. The getting started guide is the save-prep companion, even though it lives in Guides; this hub will keep sending you there because a clean Toussaint ending is a tool, not lore.

The order of operations

Do not buy a new GPU until you have read the system requirements. The May 2026 announcement already raised the minimums. Gamescom later published a recommended column as well. The number that matters for Songs of the Past is not “can I boot the 2015 executable on a spinning disk.” It is “can I run the Remastered client that arrives 29 September 2026.” That client is DirectX 12 only. HDD support is gone. Windows 10 is out of the tested matrix. CDPR said at announcement time that an older version would remain available for people who cannot run the latest build. That older version is not the Songs of the Past path. Remastered is.

Next, lock a platform. The platforms guide exists because Complete Edition is now the only purchase SKU, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included for existing owners, and Songs of the Past is still a paid add-on with no price. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the original Switch are not on the expansion list. If your Witcher 3 library lives on last-gen, plan a current-gen copy — and understand that a last-gen disc does not magically sprout Letten.

Then wishlist from the official stores page, not from a key shop. Steam app 5006530, Xbox product 9NHTWNZCD043, and thewitcher.com/buy are the identifiers worth writing down. GOG, Epic, Battle.net, PlayStation, and Nintendo listings route through that same official buy page when a region storefront hides the SKU.

Remastered is the install you are preparing

The Remastered notes are required reading even if you came here for RAM counts. Combat animations, enemy behavior, movement, the adaptive camera, and the skill-tree rework all land on 29 September 2026, months before Letten. If you freeze a “perfect” mutation build in August 2026 and never touch the tree again, you will be re-speccing anyway. Use the weeks after Remastered to relearn Roach, Signs, and camera distance, then park a Toussaint-complete slot.

Hardware that scrapes by on Remastered’s minimums may still struggle with path tracing on PC. Minimums are for getting in the door, not for ultra path-traced Novigrad. Decide now whether you care about that mode. If you do, the recommended column on the requirements page is the better shopping list.

Save prep, briefly

Songs of the Past sits after Blood and Wine. Geralt is supposed to be able to leave Corvo Bianco. The getting started guide is the place for quest flags, romance states you might want to keep, and which NG+ habits will waste your time. This hub will not duplicate that list. It will say the unromantic part: keep at least two backups, one on the platform and one off it, before the 29 September client swap. Cross-progression between the platforms CDPR already supports should keep working; do not test that theory with your only copy of a 200-hour file.

Mods are a PC-only footnote. Cross-platform mod support is still in progress. Anything that patches the old renderer is a liability on a DirectX 12, SSD-only build. Disable the stack, boot vanilla Remastered, then add pieces back.

What these tools will not do

They will not name a 2027 day. They will not invent a Songs of the Past price. They will not list Game Pass as a storefront — that rumor is unconfirmed. They will not tell PlayStation 4 owners the expansion is coming “later.” When CDPR publishes a day-one patch note or a Letten install size, it will land on the requirements page, not as a tweet screenshot here. Until then, the useful work is boring: meet the spec, pick a current-gen store, wishlist the paid chapter, and keep a Blood and Wine save that can actually walk out of the vineyard.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about Songs of the Past, Letten, and the Remastered upgrade.

What should I do first if I want to play Songs of the Past in 2027?

Confirm you can run Remastered on a current-gen platform, then prepare a Blood and Wine save. Start with system requirements and the getting started guide.

Is this hub a downloadable trainer or overlay?

No. These are planning pages: specs, storefronts, and save advice. There is no in-wiki calculator that changes the game.

Where do I wishlist the expansion?

Use the official stores list. Steam app 5006530 and Xbox 9NHTWNZCD043 are the IDs to match.

Do I need Remastered before I worry about tools?

Yes. Songs of the Past requires the free Remastered upgrade arriving 29 September 2026. Read the Remastered notes so the spec jump makes sense.
